Piano Master Class
Jou-an Chen was born in Taiwan. She began her musical training in the subjects of piano and oboe. After won the first absolute price of piano solo at the 15th International Young Musician Competition 'Città' di Barletta' in Italy at 11-years- old, she decided to concentrate her study on piano. She is an artist of association "Vrienden van hat Lied".
She hold the Bachelor of piano solo and pedagogy at National Taiwan Normal University, Piano Diplôme Surpérieur d’Enseignement at L’École Normale de Musique de Paris supervised by Prof. Nelson Delle-Vigne Fabbri and Erik Berchot, and the Master of Liedgestaltung (Klavier) at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln supervised by Prof. Ulrich Eisenlohr. During her study, she was supported as a scholarship holder from Kawai Klavier, Pacing Art Culture Education Foundation, and Liedbasel (with Bariton Anton Kirchhoff). As a member of the International Certificate for Piano Artists, she was instructed by Jerome Lowenthal, Mikhail Karpov and Daniel Blumenthal.
To share the love of music, she performed concerts around the world, e.g. Taiwan, German, France, Belgium, Russia, Lietuva, Spain and Switzerland. She even held piano benefit concerts in Taiwan, supported by Pacing Art Culture Education Foundation, and donated all income to orphanages.
Besides playing piano in solo, she also loves collaborative piano. She has numerous concerts experience with instrumentists and singers.
In 2021, she released an album “Songs, Recollections --” published by Taiwan Music Institute with violist Prof. Yi-wen Chao.
In 2022, She worked as a répétiteur in the opera project “Ravel, L’enfant et les sortilèges”.
In 2023, she won the first prize of the Internet Liedwettbewer der HfMT Köln in duo with soprano Maria Portela Larisch.
In 2024, she was selected as a Lied duo with baritone Anton Kirchhoff in Young Artists Programme at Leeds Lieder Festival.
